Inner Beauty Effects is excited to announce Lee Ann Cochran will join our leadership team. Our Founder, Kate Perna, will continue to drive creative direction and design. Lee Ann’s experience will drive partnerships, growth and social impact. This partnership is built on decades of experience and collaboration.
With its focus on social impact and providing opportunities for women to achieve economic independence, Lee Ann’s professional experiences and commitment to human rights and equality make her the perfect leader to guide Inner Beauty Effects into their next phase of growth.
Inner Beauty Effects, a Hudson Valley-based brand, handcrafts waxed totes designed around our philosophy that true beauty is within. We pair minimalist exteriors with unexpected linings designed in collaboration with independent, female artists. The durable, waxed exteriors resist the elements, are tough-as-nails, and age beautifully– just like the women who inspire our designs.
Our mission is two-fold: We aim to shift the conversation around beauty to focus on women’s strengths and capabilities, rather than something superficial, while also supporting women’s economic independence through every step of our design and manufacturing process. We source our fabric from women-owned businesses, our linings are designed by female artists, we are working toward training and hiring women from vulnerable populations to handcraft our bags- with our end goal being a small cut-and-sew/retail space- and then we donate to a variety of organizations whose mission aligns with our own.
As a lifelong friend of Founder Kate Perna, the addition of Lee Ann to the team is special. Of the announcement, Perna said: “Not only is Lee Ann one of the most brilliant, empathetic, and committed people I know, but she is also my best friend. The launch of Inner Beauty Effects was a dream of mine, and now sharing it with her has ignited my passion for this work, and expanded my vision for what it is possible.”
Lee Ann Cochran, a 20-year veteran of corporate workplaces in the aerospace, defense, start-up and non-profit industries, is a partner at Amphora Consulting and author of Perspectives: Authenticity in the Workplace. She is the current Past-President of the Women in Engineering ProActive Network (WEPAN) and serves on the boards of the Innovation Research Interchange, the Ohio Aerospace Institute, and the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence.
This partnership will bring Inner Beauty to a new phase bringing both impact and beauty to women in communities across the United States.
